VIAREGGIO – The ISYL (Italian Superyacht Life) Foundation announces the start of three new training courses in the yachting sector from October.
Culture and education are crucial to pursue professions and careers in the yachting world, especially for the new generations who, with developed and educated skills, will be able to compete and be at ease in any international context.
Fondazione ISYL is a Tuscan ITS (Istituto Tecnico Superiore) based in Viareggio, the heart of the Italian nautical sector, created with the aim of organising highly professionalised training courses for new figures in the yachting sector and marketing experts in the hospitality industry.
ISYL is flanked in the construction of the training courses by six shipyards (Azimut|Benetti Group, Cantieri Navali Codecasa, Overmarine Group, Perini Navi, Rossinavi and Tankoa, Sanlorenzo), active in the specific technical preparation of young people to contribute to the growth of the sector, by NAVIGO, a company for innovation and development in the nautical sector, with funding from the Region of Tuscany (the courses are co-financed by the POR FSE 2014-2020, Axis A , Employment, included in GIOVANISì (www. giovanisi.it), the regional project for the autonomy of young people.
There are three innovative elements that place ISYL from this year on an even higher level of excellence in nautical training for young people a promotional path alongside district companies, the activation of Golden Members, shipyards and companies that invest alongside the ISYL Foundation in promoting the training of new generations of nautical professionals, promoting their insertion into the world of work, and the connection with the GIOYA World Yachting School, a natural continuation of the training path for young ITS graduates, who will be able to reach an even higher level of training, to be completed – for some thanks to the scholarships that will be made available – even after embarking on a professional career in an international context.
Who can apply for ISYL’s ITS courses:
The courses are available to graduates (aged 18 to under 30) and there are three study routes:
1) Y&B – Yachting Builder
2) YAS 3 – Yachting surveyor 3
3) MYM – Marina Yachting Manager
Seventy-five places are available for as many young graduates who want to take advantage of a great opportunity to acquire knowledge, technical skills, get closer to the world of work, and find employment in yachting and other strategic sectors such as hospitality.
The courses will be held mainly in Viareggio, one of the world’s leading nautical districts in terms of production and know-how, on the ISYL campus in the prestigious Villa Borbone building, with the availability of accommodation with special arrangements for off-site students with external partners.The coursesY&B COURSE – Yachting Builder
The course prepares for the profession of Superior Technician for the production and maintenance of means of transport and/or related infrastructure.
This is a fundamental profession within shipyards and design studios, capable of dealing with clients such as shipyards, ship owners and technical studios and of developing an important network of national and international relations with suppliers and classification registers. It has a two-year duration and is open to 25 graduates with a maximum age of 30 (not counted) who aspire to become highly qualified figures with knowledge and skills in the various phases of shipbuilding production
The course will last four semesters for a total of 2000 hours, divided into 1200 hours of classroom training and 800 hours of internship. Applications must be received by Monday 24 October 2022 by 1 p.m.
2 ) YA.S COURSE 3- Yachting Surveyor 3
Third edition for the YA.S YACHTING SURVEYOR (Higher Technician for the Mobility of People and Goods) course.
Lasting two years, it is dedicated to 25 graduates with a maximum age of 30 (not completed), who aspire to become surveyors, highly qualified technicians capable of inspecting yachts and their installations.
The surveyor, both on board and ashore, is an important professional figure from the moment a yacht is built and throughout its life cycle, interfacing with the shipyard, surveyors, classification bodies and ship registers as well as captains and in some cases owners.The course consists of four semesters for a total of 2000 hours, 800 of which will be internships. Applications must be received by Friday, 14 October 2022 by 1 p.m.
MYM COURSE – Marina Yachting Manager ( senior technician for infomobility and logistic infrastructuresThe course is dedicated to those who intend to specialise in marina management processes.The figure of Superior Technician for infomobility and logistic infrastructures is a highly qualified professional for the management and logistics of marinas also through the promotion of integration services with the territory.
The diploma of Superior Technician is acquired after a two-year course, open to 25 graduates/undergraduates of a maximum age of 30 (not completed) with a main focus on marketing and reception.
The course will last four semesters for a total of 2000 hours, 800 of which will be internships. Applications must be received no later than Tuesday 18 October 2021 by 1 p.m.
Applications for all three courses must be submitted to the ISYL Foundation. The courses will start by 30 October 2022.
