The SEA-LAB project, funded by the PNRR, aims to further enhance training laboratories with new automation and robotics technologies. It was developed by ISYL to provide a technological framework for the programming, simulation and control of automated equipment and systems for handling, assistance and maintenance on construction sites and on board pleasure craft.

Thanks to PNRR funding, the following technological facilities have been established:

  • A platform for the programming and application of robotics in the naval sector, enabling the interconnection of sensors and systems for reading drawings and objects to facilitate the handling and assembly of parts, or for specific customisable operations.
  • A platform for the creation and use of augmented reality as a system for managing remotely assisted operations for the maintenance of electrical and hydraulic systems and equipment, as well as for the visualisation and selection of layouts with the aid of AI, and the augmented reality visualisation of logistics processes or entire areas of a vessel.
  • A cobot robotic arm system for pick-and-place operations or automatic grinding and assembly of parts
  • A remote guidance and control system for drones or marine sensors used in monitoring, data collection or underwater maintenance operations.
