Course description

The Boat Foreman – CAP 3 – is the key figure in managing a shipyard project, whether for the construction of new yachts or for refits; the Senior Technician ‘Boat Foreman’ works alongside the project manager, the shipyard director (where applicable) and the shipowner or their representatives. He is familiar with the work processes of subcontractors and guides them through the fitting-out stages right up to the launch. He applies planning and control techniques using digital tools for project management and liaises with the work teams to coordinate timings and outcomes. They assess the quality of the work carried out, paying close attention to technical and technological details to ensure that all requirements set by the shipowner, the shipyard manager and the network of companies collaborating on the construction or refit of luxury superyachts are met. Over time, they become a ‘master’ of the trades and skills necessary to ensure completion and launch in accordance with contractual specifications and within the scheduled timeframe.
