Viareggio, Pisa and Prato host the 2026–2028 programmes: free training, 800 hours of internships, workshops and lecturers coming directly from the business world to prepare the professionals required by new markets.
The nautical industry is undergoing an unprecedented transformation. Digitalisation, sustainability, automation and new technologies are changing the way yachts and maritime infrastructures are designed, built, managed and maintained. To respond to this evolution, new skills are needed, increasingly specialised and closely connected to the needs of businesses.
It is with this objective that Fondazione ISYL Academy – Italian Super Yacht Life is promoting enrolment in the new two-year ITS courses for 2026–2028, five free training programmes aimed at young people up to the age of 35, which today represent one of the main meeting points between education and the world of work.
An Academy spread across the territory
In recent years ISYL has expanded its training offer, becoming a point of reference not only for Viareggio and the superyacht sector, but for the entire sustainable mobility and maritime economy system.
The 2026–2028 edition in fact sees courses distributed across three Tuscan cities:
- Viareggio, with the Capobarca, Yachting Service Specialist and On Board System programmes;
- Pisa, with the Design & Construction course dedicated to design;
- Prato, a new addition this year, with the new Interlog course, dedicated to logistics and intermodal transport.
A presence that reflects the Foundation’s desire to build skills along the entire supply chain, from design to construction, from service management to logistics and transport.
Learning by doing
Each course involves a two-year programme of 1,800 hours (2,000 in the case of On Board System), of which 800 hours of internships directly in companies. The teaching alternates theoretical lessons, practical exercises, visits to shipyards and companies in the supply chain, and workshop activities, allowing students to engage from the very beginning with the real working environment.
A distinctive element of the ISYL offer is represented by the teaching staff. Alongside teachers coming from technical and nautical institutes, a fundamental part of the lessons is entrusted to professionals, managers, designers, captains, technicians and specialists who work daily in shipyards, in companies in the nautical supply chain, in the maritime sector and in logistics. An approach that allows students to engage with real cases, current technologies and production processes already used by companies.
The new DYRL laboratories
Making the training experience even more concrete are the new DYRL (Digital Yacht Research Lab) laboratories in Viareggio, today one of the Foundation’s main strengths.
The laboratories allow students to work with equipment, simulators and technologies used by companies in the sector, transforming learning into a practical and immersive experience and further reducing the distance between training and business.
Five programmes for the professionals of the future
The 2026 training offer includes five highly specialised programmes.
- Capobarca (CAP3) trains the professional who coordinates the construction or refit of a yacht, following the project from planning to launch and communicating with all the parties involved in the project.
- Design & Construction (D&C2) prepares technicians who work in shipyard design offices, developing components, systems and fittings through CAD software, 3D modelling and digital tools.
- Yachting Service Specialist (Y&S2) is dedicated to yachting services: refit, maintenance, yacht management, crew management, customer assistance and management of the entire life cycle of the vessel.
- Interlog expands the offer towards the world of integrated logistics, intermodal transport, import-export, supply chain digitalisation and cybersecurity applied to the movement of goods.
Among the main new features is On Board System (B-SYS2), a programme that perfectly represents the evolution of modern yachting. Talking about on-board systems today means dealing with integrated electronic systems, automation, sensors, digital networks, advanced diagnostics and energy efficiency. The engine rooms of contemporary yachts are no longer the cramped and hot environments that many imagine, but true concentrations of technology, designed to ensure performance, safety and sustainability. It is precisely in these contexts that the technicians trained by ISYL will operate, using during the programme tools and laboratories that faithfully reproduce the technologies currently present on board modern superyachts.
Once again, ISYL Academy confirms its mission: to train the professionals that companies are looking for today and those they will need tomorrow, maintaining a continuous dialogue with the production system and with the excellence of yachting, the sea and logistics.
